DENEMENLAZIM/A NEW EXHIBITION IN ISTANBUL: CONVERGING WATERS, BLOSSOMING HOPES

08 October 2025

Istanbul is once again ready for a packed culture and arts season. The streets are buzzing with exhibition openings, festival news, and the excitement of new discovery routes. The new stop on our art route, “Converging Waters, Blossoming Hopes,” was one of the first exhibitions we visited with the arrival of September.

This valuable project, realized under the leadership of Diageo Turkey, welcomes art lovers at Hope Alkazar in the heart of Istiklal Avenue. Starting September 20, 15 creative and original artists from the country’s contemporary art scene meet under a nature-oriented theme curated by Sinan Eren Erk.

The exhibition's promising name offers clues to its conceptual framework. To summarize the details emphasized by curator and art consultant Sinan Eren Erk, the most striking aspect is that the bond between the city and the urbanite is more alive than we imagine.

Despite the feelings of loneliness and uncertainty brought by the pandemic, nature’s miraculous self-renewal, its resilient reminder of its existence, and its ability to sprout hope form the core idea of the exhibition. This process reminds us that the city is not just a physical ground we live in, but a living organism where our connections and dreams come to life.

15 artists from different generations and disciplines unite their creative voices within the framework of nature, the city, and hope. They prompt the art viewer to question their relationship with the city and remind them of the strong bond between the two.

The artists bringing this exhibition to life (Ahu Akgün, Aras Seddigh, Can Memişoğulları, Cem Sonel, Delal Eken, Dilara Başköylü, Dilara Göl, Ece Haskan, Gizem Ünlü, Merve Zeybek, Murat Palta, Nermin Er, Tuğçe Diri, Ertuğrul Güngör & Faruk Ertekin) take the audience on a thought-provoking journey in one of the city's most important districts.

Known over the years for its contributions to organizations such as İKSV and Arter, Diageo Turkey takes its support for artistic activities one step further with the “Converging Waters, Blossoming Hopes” exhibition, signing off on an exhibition for the first time. The inclusion of young artists at the start of their careers alongside experienced ones reveals the inclusive, supportive, and promising side of the project.

This approach is an important detail emphasized by Bahar Uçanlar, General Manager of Diageo Turkey. She adds that art is a powerful form of expression for the deep-rooted brand stories within their organization. It is not hard to guess that their support for art and artists will appear in various other artistic activities in the coming days.

You can visit the “Converging Waters, Blossoming Hopes” exhibition at Hope Alkazar free of charge until October 27, 2025. The exhibition is open from 10:00 to 17:00, except on Sundays and Mondays. After stopping by, you can continue walking along Istiklal Avenue in the footsteps of memories you've missed, reconnect with the city, and hear its hopeful voice for yourself.
